  1. But come to think of it, we didn't have Chinese oral courses in the first place, did we?

The reverse is true as well, you know. I grew up in Australia. There was like, in total, 5 oral assessments throughout my entire schooling here. Oral is kind of a given if lessons are being conducted in said language.

(the reverse is the same of course)

(There is, of course, the up-side of learning a new language and understanding a differnet culture but if you're NOT interested in it, then seriously, why are you going?)

That's what I think anyways............... (and I *hope* my Chinese make sense = =|||)

    eg.

    simultaneously

He can listen to the music while doing his homework simultaneously.

  6. Errrrm - hmmm - I'm just going to list what my current goal is:

    1. Get Japanese JLPT Level 1 then go on and do business Japanese certification - whatever it's called

    2. Pick up French and German again - currently practicing French with my French colleague

    3. Pick up Taiwanese - hahahaha

    4. Pick up Cantonese (I didn't have the luxury of having Canto friends who were willing to teach me)

    5. Get back into consistent piano practice - start having lessons again and get it back to the original skills when I was in year 12 and beyond (ie. able to play epic Piano Concertos)

    6. Maybe pick up violin again

    7. Get a diploma in pedagogy for piano teaching so I can teach beyond Grade 6

    8. Start composing music

    9. Find a way to perform piano on the side

    10. Start up a few of my e-commerce ideas

    11. Get a proper blog up and running with focus on music, scanlations/manga/anime and computing

    12. Start a company after a few years at work

    13. Pay off my mortgage = =|||

(Can't type in Chinese right now. When I switch computers, I'll come and rewrite it in Chinese)

  7. Well, that's at least WAAAY better than that 30+ year old female teacher going out with a TWELVE YEAR OLD boy - later had a child by him when he was 14, then when he was 16 - and now they're married. Her son from her previous marriage is only 2 yrs older than her current husband. Now THAT'S wrong (and yes, she served time in prison - for obvious reasons)

    dannnkkeeeee.

(Yes, I know I'm being terse but what else can I say? Different unis offer different scholarships. Different degrees offer different scholarships. Engineering had minimum amount of women so they had several scholarships for women only. Choose one - or two - or multiple - and apply. That's really it.)

To me, 國外 means country outside of the country I'm in. When I'm in this thread, I assume people talk about countries outside of Taiwan. However, I still don't know what people mean by "國外" so I always ask them to specify which country. What I truly find funny is that most people here don't even bother asking. They talk about the States straight away. What's even funnier is when they DO talk about countries outside of America, they will specify which country they talk about.

All of this gives me the impression that when people talk about "國外", they think the States. It's truly a funny thing - for me at least.

  9. Well, it's similar to Digg. You really just click on links or the comments and read the comments. If you want to join, then clicking reply should take you to register page. There's also subreddits so reddit but under a particular subject/topic so you can filter and read only the posts you feel like reading. Quite sure there's a FAQ there somewhere but yeah...you're studying for uni. Not the time right now.

  10. Maybe I should change that signature. And yes, noone replies to my post. Not interesting enough I guess. *le sigh*

I also find it interesting how the system actually keeps track of my errr....study status. I no longer have a title under my name. Does the system automatically update that or someone actually is taking notice of my posts and realise that I've graduated? Weird as.

  11. I swear someone asked this before...ages ago....maybe you can crawl through and see people's responses.

    Learn to Google....

In fact, things like this, your first point of contact should be Wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_relations

As for related career, google "Careers in International Relations" and you'll find something like this:

    http://www.graduatecareers.com.au/content/view/full/2697

    http://careerplanning.about.com/od/occupations/a/intl_relations.htm

    http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/IntRelations.htm

In fact, go to ANY universities that offers this course and they'll tell you in their course guide what type of careers you can go into:

    http://environment.yale.edu/about/IR-Joint-Degree/

    http://www.dmu.ac.uk/faculties/humanities/undergraduate-degree-courses/ba-degree-courses/politics-international-relations/politics-international-relations-career-opportunities.jsphttp://www.dmu.ac.uk/faculties/humanities/undergraduate-degree-courses/ba-degree-courses/politics-international-relations/politics-international-relations-career-opportunities.jsp

    http://www.gradschools.com/Article/international-relations-curriculum/218.html

    http://www.mtholyoke.edu/cdc/internationalrelations.html

As for your other interests, again, wikipedia is your friend:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communication_studies

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_studies

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marketing

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outline_of_economics

In fact, judging from the list of interests you have, go check for a Commerce degree or a Commerce/Law degree.

Finally, if your school has a career advisor, that's where you should go. He/she should be able to answer most of the questions you've outlined....except maybe the Taiwan related questions.
