  1. It was quite fun. Ours were 7pm-11pm

I went to my friend's place. She decorated her kitchen and backyard with all sorts of haunty things. Chips, lollies, Helloween cupcakes, mushmellows with chocolate, soft drinks with strawberries and many others, were served.

We voted the best costumes and the most inappropriate costumes (neither were me:P)

Then we played games like passing oranges with neck and shoulders, eating donnut without any part of your body except your mouth (it's like hanging down with a string, if you get what I mean). There was also grabbing plastic bugs from a bucket in 10 seconds, there was red jelly inside, which was a substitution of blood :p so that after you get your hands out, your hands are full of the "insects' blood" XD

Some people dressed up as Penny from Hairspray, Belly from Twilight, ghost (original), and I was just a musical witch-I was wearing all black with a funky cloak and a red giant fluffy hat~

Apparently other people in my year went to "trick or treat," which sounds very interesting, but I love the party I went anyway XD

  2. I'm sorry to ask you to do this favor for me, but would you mind to take my school's name off? Instead, just say 海外, and the year I'm in doesn't matter, I don't need the lines.

(form 3 means year 9, I'll be in year 10 in January 2009 anyway, if this makes sense-don't bother it~)

If you could re-set it, that'd be appreciated

    Thanks a lot

    Done

    A_____A

  4. Grammatically it's CORRECT. Google it. = =#

It took me about 4 years to be able to communicate in the language with almost no mistakes (elementary stage), so it should be the same for you.

Right-then it depends how and where you use it... (it's a language after all)

You meant English? 'with almost no mistakes,' I'm sure this goes for "everyone's different", as damoko had said.

My English is getting better (particularly during the time I'm spending at school :p), but it seems that my Chinese has stopped improving since I don't go to school in Taiwan anymore = =" However, my Chinese is still far better than my English, my English is better than my Taiwanese though (what a shame)

  5. Can my English be better if I chat in here?Cuz my English is poor.><

You've already started a topic, which means that you've done the first attempt of praticing your English. Your English would be better in some ways, but definitely not much in terms of "proper language". Just talk as much as you can, as long as you're maintaining the persistence of speaking English with confidence.

I think this is kinda strange, cuz when it's time for us to face a foreigner, the skill we'll need is to SPEAK. But in TW, it seems our education only view reading and writing important.

How come? Does the government thinks that it won't be strange for us to write on paper to communicate with foreign people??? [ Imagine that. ]

The government doesn't seem care about speaking in the reality, but it's the most important part of the language, as in literally, the language is a communication tool. I learn French at school, we always have all listening, reading, writing and speaking tests and also in the yearly exams-teachers tend to speak fully in French when they're teaching, unless they need to explain something such as gramma they'd speak in English. We get pretty much balanced learning in every area (those 4), which is very effective.

  6. English... then you better consider the long-term course (like for years, instead of exchagne or a short period of time), because it'd be much helpful for your actual English, plus, with efficiency. You could go to high school first and prepare for the university (<depends what do you want to study then). It's certainly better if you can do that, except you'll really need to make a big decision, in terms of awaring the safety and some side sacrifices.....(mentally) Usually, it's better if you have family or relatives there, so that they can take care of you, especially you're a girl. Howevery, if you could only do the short-term course, then you could try those exchange program such that you'd probably live with the local family, which is a great opportunity to pratise your speaking, and you don't really get the chance of speaking in your own language :p (which is good)

The level of your English is not really an issue... because you can't just instantly improve your English, but depends what test you get, the organization (or school) normally just want to know how much you know after all. Do your best, that's all I can say. I don't really know what you're aiming for. Do you just want to get your English better? There are many others ways far better than doing short-term English-learning courses...

P.S. I apologise that I can't type Chinese for you; Unfortunately, I don't have Chinese keyboard at the moment.

  7. The majority of people at my school was reading them last term~

I haven't read them yet, but I planned to read them this holiday (2 months, in December); I got so much time during the holidays.

Apparently they're easy to understand, which wouldn't made me worry about my language understanding :p

The storyline's very intriguing and the writer's must have that somewhat 'power' to fully grab the audience's interest and the desire to read them on ;-)

  8. Gramatically, it's incorrect. It may be used in cases such as colloquil language (ie informal, conversational), magazines, or written in those books that are allowed for some particularly reasons (ie up to the author's decision and consideration^o)).

It's better to avoid making a habit of starting a sentence with "but" and "and", unless you're positively sure that you have to use it for whatever the reason is.

I always make heaps of grammatical errors in any way. It's particularly obvious in my writing at school (sigh:'(), but what can you do? Pratise! I don't really get embarrased when I make mistakes, instead, I feel frustrated (laugh~). I'd thought, "I've been here (Australia) for 2 year! What've I been doing? Am I going to screw my HSC (high school certificate, 'exam' we do for university here)? Then I'd try to calm myself down, "Work harder then; or else what can you do? Put your knowledge into action!" (deep down, I say this to myself when I'm really down , though I still lay back with a funny and awkward guilty......):)

I don't afraid of speaking English here (of course not literally "speaking" :p), but in my daily life, I tend to be lack of pronunciation and fluency-that's definitely because I don't speak it a lot, yet still, but certainly, more pratice leads to precision, just like our Mandarin and Taiwanese, isn't it?

  9. I started learning English when I was about 10, as my mum said so, thus I basically became a typical person who either go to a cram school or has a private lesson, but honestly, I love English~ I want to be able to speak English fluently. Nevertheless, one day(in fact, not just one day, but it indeed happened instantly) I've came to Australia and went to a school here (I still go school here at the moment). Although I've had infenitely many difficulties (and still do) when I'm dealing with the language barriers, I love English! It's probably my personal interest that comes out of nature. I guess there's no such way (as you'd called it) to overcome the progress of learning English. It's just like learning other languages; you've got to feel the language, let's say your mother-tongue is like something part of you, and when you learn a new language (or more than 1), it'd be like getting this particular language part of you as well. Application, according to my cousin; the more you experience it, the more you know about it.

My English has improved far so much after I came to Australia, this is all can say. I mean, it's definitely hard to learn a language that is not based on the same basis of your first language, in other words, you need the environment, which is why I chose to go overseas (of course not everyone has their opportunity to do this). I don't just learn the language, but as well as the country's culture, the attitudes of people here, and different perspectives about life and many others etc. It's amazing...... I cannot actually know these things well untill I have actually experienced it by myself.

It's true English is useful worldwidely. One of my friends once said that it's awesome to know English (she speaks English), because the majority of great literatures are in English.

That's basically my story typed in a rather simple way :P One could consult me about anything if they wish~

  10. when a somewhat miracle appears... (e.g. some people get great ideas to make it better)

well, I suppose we follow the world's pace in some ways, I don't know (who knows), hopefully as soon as possible~ (clearly I'm not an expert of economics or that sort)

What do you reckon what can you do about the education in Taiwan?

(For instance, carry out a plan and send some suggestions to the education department of the government etc.)

1 special episode

像是你發音要自己磋,進度非常有彈性(you might lost your original motivation)

    best wishes

就以我Australian history課來講,老師可是一直問學生 questions using how and why, and usually based on logical sense,這樣時常讓我們去想,而不是硬塞一堆給你,自己消化。做作業的方式也完全不同;從來不會有選擇題是非題的考卷當作業,在考試裡只有少數科目有選擇題(像地理的第一部分)是非題幾乎很少見(in visual arts if I remember) the majority of the format is short or extensive response ,大部分都是用自己的話來回答問題。學校也有groups like social justice or some other meetings about any current international issues 。之前all senior members (year 7-12 only, but we also have kindergarten and primary section)一起看An Inconvenient Truth,看完之後大家分別到不同的教室和老師討論(十幾個人{上課也是})問題像是我們覺得怎麼樣,覺得自己可以做什麼make a difference,然後很多同學就會分享其他經驗像是自己在新聞報章雜誌上看到的。

很多人都想知道世界發生什麼事,即使無法觸及或做什麼大改善(you may think of that),but people should care about it-as it's the world we live in.

It's like a global village, quote from 冬風(is that right?) "全球化的時代下,國際關係牽一髮而動全身,難保哪天不會動到你!", you're part of it and it's part of you as well.

as in, it comes from natural interest

(Paganini)- Paganini Caprice No.24

(Liszt)-Hungarian Rhapsody, for orchestra No.2 in C sharp minor

    No.4 in D minor

    Mephisto Waltz, for piano No.1

    Waldesrauchen(森林的絮語)可能有點"軟趴趴"不過很美

    La Chasse(狩獵)

    Theme and Variations (這首當然是源於從帕格尼尼小提琴)

    e.g. Grande Valse Brillante, op.18

    Fantaisie-impromptu, op.66 (幻想即興曲)

    Waltz in G flat major, op.70 no.1

Etude in E major, op.10, no.3 "Tristesse" (旋律非常非常美)

Etude in G flat major, op.10, no.5 "Black Key" (周杰倫"不能說的秘密"裡有)

(Moussorgsky)-Ciplak Dagda Bir Gece

    -Ispanyol Kapricyosu (espanol Capricioso)

    -Arilarin Ucusu(Dansi)

(Rachmaninoff)-Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor,

    -Etudes-Tableaux op.33 我喜歡no.1,2,4

    Britten-Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Op.34

Variations and Fuge on a Theme by Purcell

-Variations on a Theme by Frank Bridge, Op.10

    -Four Sea Interludes, Op.33a

可參考BBC Symphony Orchestra - Sir Andrew Davis

The Rhythm of Life

Rain of Mind
