【英文】一個關於there is/are 的問題

There is/are 後面+動詞只能+Ving?不能加不定詞嗎?(雖然沒看過這樣用)

剛剛朋友問我的，我個人覺得是因為有be動詞的關係...

請各位幫忙回答，謝謝!!!

還有一個問題就是，那如果是只能加ing，這樣算是進行式嗎?

There+be動詞形式的句子中，既不知道誰是聽話者，也沒有特別指定對象，只是傳達「有~

存在的意思。這類型的句子，be動詞後面接的是主詞。

像是我之前問的there+ be動詞後面是否加V-ing，我覺得合理的解釋應該是(舉個例子好了)

EX.There is a cat.

The cat is eating under a table.

如果將這兩個句子合併後，又省略關代，

→There is a cat eating under a table.

這樣不就變成，there +be動詞後面V-ing...(哈哈)

關於there +be動詞又有一個動名詞慣用語→There is no V-ing

EX.There is no knowing what will happen in the future.

差不多就是這樣...

There is/are 後面不能加動詞吧

這句 There is a cat eating under a table.

cat 是主詞 eating under a table 是修飾他的動名詞片語

也可以寫成 A cat is eating under a table.

從這句看的話 把is當成一般動詞

eating under a table 也可以當成是形容詞片語

又說 There is no knowing what will happen in the future.

knowing what will happen in the future 是名詞片語

根據我看旋元佑文法的結果 應該是這樣吧?

關於there was no KNOWING what will happen in the future.其實是省略了一個one，there was no one knowing what will happen in the future.

英文有些時候會省略掉一些語法的成分，例如there was a cat eating under the table，也省略了一個which was　這類的補語轉換詞(complementizer)。

也就是 there was a cat which was eating under the table.

其它的例子又如this is a policy implemented by the government，事實上是this is a policy which was(is) implemented by the government.

而eating under the table跟 implemented by the government事實上是前面一個clause的補語，它們是用來解釋前面一個clause裡面的object的狀態，或者提供附加的信息。
