Recommended Posts

Yeah...and the States isn't doing anything about it (at least the current administration). The rich are only a handful in the States. The poor are all over the place. *sigh*

Do they actually act like kids on "The O.C" or "My Super Sweet 16"? If they do, yes, they're spoiled. In fact, that's BEYOND spoiled. Though.....my cousin's who live in the Orange County are fairly cool people. I guess it's something to do with their parents as well. The other day, I saw a video that showed this mother taking her 6 year old daughter to a tanning parlour so she can get a tan and be "the prettiest girl in class". I feel like throttling the mother. >_>

NO!!!

Haha! Yes, I do realise it's not to that extent. I was more asking whether it's anywhere CLOSE to that. OC bores me to death. The only time I've watched it was at school when it was raining so all the other girls opted to watch the episode from last night which someone taped. >_>

Super Sweet Sixteen....I've only HEARD about it.

Sounds...VERY similar to Australia though I think overseas student tend to go to public schools here more so than private schools. Reason being, most private schools don't like to take in overseas student - especially since most of them come in like, year 11 or 12. That's HSC year. Private schools need their reputation. They wouldn't want one student trailing behind in English which is compulsory, affecting the school mark and other student's marks.

Though, as I understand it, school fees in the states is like 20x more expensive than Australia. It's insane. Of course people can go to public schools but not all public schools have the greatest education (at least in Australia. If the high school isn't selective, then it's usually = =|||). That's like saying, if you don't have money, you don't deserve a good education. Quite stupid in my opinion. >_>

1) sigh....yea "SWEET SIXTEEN"

2)well...that's ture but very sad. (sigh)

The richer you are, the more advantages you get.

That's why I pay high respects to those who work very hard even though they have to fight only on their own.

In our current society, unfortunately, yes. This is why I reckon Sweden's done a good job. It's communism that actually worked. :p From what I've heard, they tax everyone off to the same income. ie. the more you earn, the more you get taxed off so that everyone ends up with the same income. The government then actually use the tax for public services including transport and education. So what happen is, public transport and such are all free there. A friend of mine who stayed there at one point said you can borrow a bike at one city, cycle to the other end of the country and return it to the depot there all for free since it's all covered through tax. As for the schools there - man! The public education is better than the private education since the government have so much revenue through tax that they've used a lot of it in the education sector. Ack - zipping up now. >_>
