Recommended Posts

Otaku

Zhainan

Technically, it should be "hikikomori" - again, from Japanese, meaning "to be confined or to pull away". They use this term to describe people who keep themselves at home and stay away from society - which is closer to the Taiwanese term I guess.

However, if you use hikikomori, noone will understand you. Hardly anyone know this term. Otaku gives the wrong impression that you're a Japanese manga/anime fanatic ie. You're a pervert, because that's the general stereotypical view of "otakus". Still, only a handful of people actually know that term.

A better term is unsociable. Or, for a bit of humour, just say that you're one of those people who stay at home playing computers and don't really socialise much and seriously need a life. People will get you straight away, WITHOUT making the atmosphere awkward since you'll all be able to have a bit of a laugh.

Or, you can say you're a geek....or nerd....provided that you actually are. Or even better, just say you play Warcraft. Enough said. :p

General answer to the question is, there's no such term. Not REALLY anyways. We generally just say "those who don't have a life". Watch South Park episode from season 10 called "Make Love Not Warcraft". That's closest I guess.

In fact, here's a link:

我記得有個形容詞是...cocooning...應該算是像這種人吧!?

不過那是一般的認知....

實際上宅男.腐女什麼的似乎是說狂熱動漫.同人等等的東西

甚至是...羅莉控!?

宅網路的應該叫做cybernaut 好像是最近演化出來的名詞?!

That song's actually a parody of another hip hop/R&B song - it's done by Al Yankovich. His songs are ALWAYS parodies of current, popular songs (and they RULE).

Examples

Avril Lavigne's "It's Complicated" is parodied by him to become "It's Constipated"

James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" is parodied as "You're pitiful" or "My Cubicle"

R Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" series is parodied as "Trapped in the Drive-Thru"

Heh - I think he's awesome :p

Seeing this is more a CULTURE thing, I'm going to see what urban dictionary have.

A person who has one or more of the following attributes:

1) Has a hard drive that is 40gb or larger

2) Use pick up lines that references the size of his or her hard drive

3) Enjoys performing Net Send shenanigans

4) Thinks that SQL injection is more rad than sex

5) Loves them some Linux

6) The only naked women that they have seen is via internet porn.

*laughs uncontrollably* Yeah - ok - fine then.

As for "geek"

1. The people you pick on in high school and wind up working for as an adult

2. The term "geek" originally referred to the carnival performers whose act consisted of biting the heads off chickens and eating glass. Over time it came to be applied to anyone who got paid to do work considered odd or bizarre by mainstream society.

The term now enjoys a special status within the technical community, particularly among particularly knowledgeable computer programmers. To identify oneself as a "geek" indicates a recognition that most people still consider programming computers to be a bizarre act, along with a certain fierce satisfaction in being very good at their inglorious profession.

That most software geeks now easily earn twice as much as the average laborer just sweetens their defiant embrace of the term.

Note: Unlike the word "nerd," which is always pejorative, "geek" often carries a positive connotation when used by one of the group. The use of the term by outsiders is considered insulting.

3.

Not to be confused with Nerd. A geek does not have to be smart, a Geek is someone who is generally not athletic, and enjoys Video Games; Comic Books; being on the internet, and etc.

4.

It doesn't seem to refer to 'computer programmers' as much as it once did when computers weren't so damn cool handy. Geeks are pretty much people who have a real understanding for a certain topic eg. Films, music, cars. It's usually that they are totally obsessed about the topic, or it's just something they think alot on.

Nerdy

there is a short film in "Youtube"

white&nerdy

.....a song

a little silly

nerdy

3.
