Serendipity has disappeared.

In its place, normalcy has reared

A star has fallen from the heavens.

Fortune gone, as are rolls of sevens

Extricated from places skyward,

Pessimism now moving onward

Fog of hope thinning, vision clearing

Image so tarnished, flashbacks searing

Once beautiful and invincible

Now ugly and penetrable

Another Rome has fallen lifeless

This tragedy has left us breathless

Influence has faded so quickly

Our nation reeling and so sickly

New woes will come our direction

Instilling hosts of insurrection

To defend is so wholly futile

Realization, swift and brutal

A new giant star will surely rise

High in the sky, revealing our lies.

If history repeats, time will tell.

For only the real truth will sell
