CSE major, but might switch or double major in EE.

actually I was sort of aiming for schools in New England, but none of those brand-name schools accepted me.

I'm quite open about everything actually, I just want to go to a well-rounded school with a bit of academic challenge. Additionally, good research and internship opporunities would be optimal =)

兩所學校都參觀過研究過：

well-rounded ---> UCLA for sure

USC很像LA的縮小版可是沒有那麼全方位 ; UCLA就很像是一個面面俱到的情人這樣XD

USC的話強的方面比較局限在平常大家知道的商＋建築＋音樂/藝術＋communication --> 這些可能贏過LA

不過其實出來的學生實力並不齊全 ; USC的畢業生找工作很大一部份靠的是校友關係。

USC我進去晃過幾次，剛開始覺得school spirit很強，後來發現有一種很悠閒很散漫的氣氛不太像學校＝＝

UCLA實力比較平均離downtown很近所以internship我覺得兩所的機會差不多。

p.s 話說我進UCLA跟UCB可是被USC拒絕...本來以為它是囊中物的，現在很blue＝＝

I guess my main concern for UCLA is the student/faculty ratio and state funding issues...

而且我這春假去了一次加州發現加州人真是太太太幸福啦啦啦

My Dad graduated from USC EE a few decades ago. His concentration was communications. Back then USC was top ten in EE, and was especially strong in communications.

But I know UCLA has a better math department. Because my Dad went to UCLA to take a lot of math classes. And Terence Tao is in UCLA... (he's a really famous young mathematician)

That's all I know.

If I were you, I would only decide between UIUC and UCLA.

haha a few adults were trying to convince me that USC has come a long way and is now as good as UCLA. With state funding issues at hand, USC might be a decent option.

Anways, I decided to fly to LA this weekend for the UCLA Engineering open house and to visit USC along the way. Maybe that'll clear up some doubts. Thanks for the comments =)

i like the area around Westwood. ppl say theres a fantastic korean BBQ restaurant out there.

if your only concern is food,

UCLA's in the princeton review's top 20 list of "greatest restaurants ever" or something like that XD

and it's freakingggg true!!!!

USC's relatively weird. I only saw some fast food restaurants around the campus and the traffic's HORRIBLE so you probably cant get too far for a meal.

and toasttie, there are also some other great asian food restaurants around UCLA. I went to a japanese one and it's so much better than the ones i've tried in the US so far LOL

by the way, i just arrived SF and witnessed how dangerous this place is.... 囧rz

Go to UCLA, it's generally a well rounded institution. USC is filled with spoiled children.("University of Spoiled Children", "University of Stupid Chinese") And I believe USC gets its academic fame from the graduate school... Well, it is your choice. I think since UCLA is a State school and USC is a private school..... UCLA gets more funding than USC?

oh yeah I heard those names about U$C.... but California has it's own state funding issues so that's my main concern
