【問題】想讓大家推薦我一些書

因為最近即將飛往澳洲讀書

那我想在休學沒事的時候讀一些書來增強自己英文能力

請教各位有哪些書可以推薦給我看的嗎?

我的英文程度沒有很差也沒有很好

想看些英文書讓自己比較能適應那裡的環境

那我會推薦我現在這本Life of Pi

雖然內容有點無趣，不過你讀到最後會有一點感想！

這本好像是美國高中必讀的吧！

the last lecture 台灣好像翻成最後的演講

句型算是很簡單, 讀了好幾頁才有一個比較難的字

書又不算太無聊, 我都推薦我朋友讀這本 :)

mitch albom 的書我覺得很好看 但是不難

純粹是為了消遣娛樂可以讀

但是加強英文可能就不太夠了

animal farm 是美國高中(還是8年級呀...忘了)常選的書

我們學校之前熱門的是 the kite runner, night

今年暑假的指定讀物是兩位候選人的自傳

不過這幾本書比較是因為關係到 current event or world issue 才選的

加強英文方面可能就沒那些古典文學好了(但是好看+好讀很多!)

animal farm 是一本很薄很好讀的書，但閱讀前最好先讀一下他的背景和導讀，因為每個書中人物都象徵蘇俄當時的政治人物及政治罪犯，若不把這先弄清楚你只會覺得那是一本單純把動物擬人化的書罷了

殊不知你的英文程度

以台灣普通高二學生的英文程度而言

我到覺得從英文普通讀物下手倒還嫌有點跳太快了，一開始挫折大很容易沒信心或失去興趣

從美國青少年讀物下手吧

好像oxford有出一系列由淺入深的讀本薄薄的一下就看完了也不錯做個參考

Go to www.boredofstudies.org and start checking out some of the year 10 and above stuff there. This site is where all the Australian students gather and talk - much like here - only the difference is there's A LOT more people and the sole purpose of that site is to prepare people for the HSC.

As for books, *sigh* - man - I'm sure there's like FIVE threads around here that lists more than enough books for you to check out. 爬文吧!

都已經十年級了還在看國外三年級學生看的goosebumps

台灣翻做雞皮疙瘩

很好看的鬼故事!

而且薄薄一本100頁左右

坐在地鐵上無聊時看一看很好的!!!

I'll give you a couple of the ones I've read thus far:

Looking for Alibrandi (coming-of-age)>Australian book, it'd probably help you to get to know Australian culture well, in particularly Sydney life :p

Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn)>this is easy to understand

James and the Giant Peach (read some other Roald Dahl's)>it's very cute

Smiling for Strangers >it's not very well-known but it's very easy

Holes >oh... you must read this one

Robert Frost 詩集... 極度推，一定有中英文對照的，只是中文翻得好不好的問題。裡面有很多對生命的見證、對挑戰、恐懼、不確定性、大自然抒發的優美詞句。個人覺得他的文筆介於文言跟現代之間，並不難懂，很好記，也很好運用。

Those books suggested above reminded me those good old days back in high school! The easier ones such as Animal Farm, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Cather in the Rye, are good to begin with!

And I want to suggest Emily Dickinson's poetry! (L)
